The
Singing Bell Ranch is located about an hour east of downtown Dallas in
Hunt County Texas. The ranch was founded by Earl and Lillian Nichols in
1952 and was originally a purebred Hereford cattle ranch. Earl Nichols
was an oil engineer, banker and businessman who brought many innovative
approaches to the development of the ranch over the years. Their
daughter, Nancy Nichols Smith remains one of the owners of the
property.

Subsequently, their grandson and his wife, Allen and Jane Smith bought a
substantial portion of the ranch and have continued to operate it in
conjunction with his mother, Nancy. The rich history of the ranch
includes numerous agricultural operations, Texas mystery and beautiful
wildlife and landscape.
The original home site contains many large, beautiful post oak
trees
that are more than 400 years old and was known as an Indian council
meeting location. Current operations include a commercial cow-calf
operation and ongoing land cultivation efforts. The close and
convenient proximity to Dallas combined with the remote and vast
landscape make the Singing Bell a significantly special Texas land
holding owned by a long time Texas family.
